Last Friday, the trading volume on the EEX Derivatives Market for dairy products exceeded the threshold of 50,000 tonnes of goods equivalent for the first time. From 1 January until 26 August 2016, a total of 10,026 contracts were traded in this segment, corresponding to an equivalent of 50,130 tonnes. Thereof, 29,260 tonnes were traded in skimmed milk powder futures, 20,820 tonnes were traded in butter futures and 50 tonnes in whey powder futures. The dairy trading volume throughout the year 2015 amounted to 29,380 tonnes (corresponding to 5,876 contracts).
